    Brooder and heater questions

We are getting 6 chicks, 2 each buff Orpington, black australorp, and Plymouth barred rock. We live in Ontario Canada. It is our first time so having the chicks inside closeby will make me feel better at first so I can monitor what is going on.

    Brooder and heater questions

I have chicks coming in April and I am considering options for our brooder. I have decided I really don't want a heat lamp. I want a heating plate like Eco glow or premier1 brooder. I have also seen the mama heating pad mentioned a lot. Right now we may use a kiddie pool to start inside. Would...

    Chick brooder setup

We are getting 2 each of buff Orpingtons, black australorps, and Plymouth barred rocks. I really like the idea of the Eco glow or similar alternatives to heat lamps. Do you think our setup needs to be bigger? Could we use the Eco glow brooder outside in the bigger coop and move out earlier ?

It is 4 square feet inside the coop area. Would this work? We were thinking about an Eco glow chick brooder as...
