Can I let my pigeon fly?

    It's been a week...any news?

    What time are hawks active?

LOL...not from Texas, but I AM from Chicago (another rib centric place). The guy barbequing is a native Washingtonian. It was mindblowing for him, too. Bald Eagles are plentiful up here, and I know near water they pick on Ospreys (sea hawks)...they wait until the osprey has done the hard...

    "We have Pigeons"....

Hi, laughingdog, thanks for the response. Rarely gets down to freezing here, and they should be able to handle the time when it does. I could also put thick plastic outside of the walls to help keep them warm on those rare cold snaps. I also think I'll just have built, or buy, three rabbit...

    What time are hawks active?

From what I hear, hawks and eagles can get pretty bold. A buddy of mine was barbequing (we're in the Seattle-area) and he saw a bald eagle perched on a tree in his yard about 30 or so yards away. He went on barbqueing, and he heard this 'whoosh, whoosh' sound and before he knew it, the sucker...

    "We have Pigeons"....

Hi, laugingdog. I saw where you wrote that you spray bath your birds before you feed them and clean the cage. I want to have about 6-8 pigeons and put them in a small loft in my small backyard. Do you just use a mist type hand held spray bottle (similar to windex bottles)? If so, for how long...

    Lahore pigeons

I'll have to check out the npausa.com page. I hope they can put me in touch with pigeon breeders who may have them. I know a breeder in Cali who will ship, and I'll get a couple of pairs from him. But I really want that Blue. Thanks for the information.

    Lahore pigeons

Do you know of a way to breed blue Lahores if you don't have a blue hen and cock? Or where to get them? Thanks!

    What time are hawks active?

AZ Justin, you said" "Personally: I'd let them live regardless, since out here they're hell on rattley snakes, ground squirrels, flying rats (pigeons and doves), and cottontails. All our poultry is (now) locked up anyways so let them come!" LOL. I don't know about that. There are plenty...

    Lahore pigeons

Wow, the genetics are weird. I'd like to find something dealing with the pairings for Lahores that they have with Ring Neck Doves. A cheat sheet, of sorts.

    Lahore pigeons

Lauren is a pretty Lahore. By Spring, I'll have the clearance of the HOA to build my loft and I can get about 4 -6 pairs of Lahores. Get up to about 24 and stop there.

    Lahore pigeons

Good looking birds. I like black, lavender and cream colroed ones the most, and I'd love to get a couple of pair of blues (barred, checked or plain). One would think that looking on line, they're be plenty, but such is not the case. That's why I'm hoping that some mix of other colors can get...

    Lahore pigeons

Yes indeed! I checked out that page with the various genetic pairings, but there was no mention of 'black' as a base color; just blue, brown and red. It makes sense that a black and lavender would produce a 'blue' but do you or anyone here have experience mixing colors for Lahores?

    Lahore pigeons

When it comes to pigeon genetics it is a subject that makes my eyes twitch. This is one sight I found in reference. Hope you have better luck with it than I did. http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/pigeons/ I have an older fancier I am friends with who has done some some amazing...

    Lahore pigeons

Nobody has been here since March of 2016, but I have a question: Currently, of the people who sell Lahores in the U.S., nobody seems to have Blue Bar or Blue Barless. I was talking with one guy, and he said to maybe get Black and Lavender to get a Blue Pigeon. What is your take on this...
