6-day old Coturnix quail, hatched this winter - one showing off his big feet and just looking generally adorable, and the other really enjoying the marble-filled alternate water dish we provided when at first they didn't want to drink out of the regular waterer- 3potatoes

Brought home eight Coturnix chicks today (so exciting!!) - they're 5 days old. We turned a cardboard box into a brooder - lined with a couple inches of pine shavings. Have a quail waterer with jar from Tractor Supply, a chick feeder with 28% protein turkey/gamebird starter, and a Brinsea... -

Ahh - I left out a word!! We are getting 8 one-week-old chicks. So still tiny and in need of the heat Speaking of which - when do you take the heat away - I've read when they're 3-4 weeks old, but does it depending on feathering, or another indicator of when in that range they're "ready"... -

We could have fox here (since we back onto woods) but so far with our rabbits that live outdoors colony-style, we've been lucky to not have any predators in the yard. Hope it stays that way - I have heard that quail attract everything that likes to eat quail, so we're going to be super careful... -

Awesome - thank you! I've read in a few places that you have to be careful if you have them outside in the cold, as their eggs can freeze... but I'm not sure if that's accurate or not. Has that been an issue for you with them out in winter? -

Hi - Hoping to add some Coturnix Quail to our lives :-) and doing lots of research - noticed your photos of the small animal cage you're using and had a couple questions - We have a rabbit/guinea pig cage that's 1.5 feet x 2.5 feet - and trying to figure out if we might be able to use that...
