I'm thinking by the end of next week at the latest. No worries about being left out, she'll be watched and put up at night. I'm thinking she will be okay once she's got babies to tend to. I figured I'd introduce another mate closer to Winter, if I don't just allow her to keep at least two...
Earlier this week, my gander passed away while guarding his girl who's sitting on the nest. Now I'm at a loss as what to do for her? I'm fairly certain her eggs are close to hatching but she's noticably depressed now. I don't think another friend in her pen is appropriate with goslings on the...
You really have been such a help! I don't know what I would've done without you. Thanks so much! I'll update when he's found some friends <3 And on everyone's health.
The lady had no idea on breeds. So it'll be a surprise i suppose.
Cash is a Cayuga, so I'm doubtful they'll have those. There was a posting for either Mallards (same age 1 week) or rouens (1day old) near me i could purchase off of CL.
Would either of those be a good match? I'd love to find some...
Thanks, i appreciate it.
@Miss Lydia- my TSC gets its babies March 6th so I'll be going there. I'm also frequenting Craigslist to try and find the last duck (now named Cash) some friends.
I did put the vits in the water for everyone.
But sadly around 8pm my sweet Tumbles passed. :( so now I'm super diligent with my last duckling who seems great and my 6 remaining chicks. I'm thinking i need to find the duckling a companion though since he'll be alone once i separate him from the...
I had no idea the size of the crest could mean anything? He does peep! Fairly loudly if he doesn't care for me holding him. He eats like a machine when he can get to it. Doesn't drink as much as his sibling though. I let them swim earlier...and the other just LOVED it...crested one just kinda...
I have, and got credited back. It definitely has me wary of ever ordering by mail again. Although, I believe the post office that had them just kept them overnight instead of contacting me THAT day. I did put a little direct just in his mouth and he did lap it up without a fight at all. I will...
They were shipped with my order last week They are now 6 days old. They are all thats left other than two ducklings (pasty butt has been an issue) and I want them to go to someone who can help them better than I (New chicken owner) I'm willing to drive a little ways with them. Just PM me!
UPDATE: This morning I got the Nutri-drench...but noticed Tumbles is now gasping it looks like. He still eats and drinks (the latter not as much as usual) but constantly seems breathless :(
I just received an order from a hatchery last Friday, with 3 Cayuga ducklings, 4 bantam chicks (2 DOA), and 12 RIR packing peanuts....well now we are down to 2 ducklings & 6 RIR :(
Anyways, one of the ducklings died mysteriously during the night between day 2 & 3. One duckling is doing well...
