I also have a 250 bulb in a small brooder, but I can barely get the temp to 95. Those that don't use them, are your chicks in the house or something else where the ambient temp is already high?
Depends on who you ask, but I have heard:
2-4sq ft coop space per chicken (so your coop can handle about 6-12)
5 or 10 sq ft run space per chicken (so your run can handle 8 or 4).
And two layers per 1sq ft box (so 12)
But I am very interested in what others have to say.
