Well, just to update everyone. I was working from 0600 till way after sundown and my bride went out to put the girls up for the night. One of them decided she was not ready for bed yet and was going out again and the door got loose from my bride at the same time. Well you know what comes...
To all. I massaged the crop this am and just got home from work and after I secured them in the coop I felt her crop and it is softer. this morning it felt like the inside of a stretch armstrong and this evening it is starting to feel like her coop mates but she still does the funky chicken...
Oh boy... Well I felt her crop and it is hard. Whats harder is I have to go to work the rest of the week nd wont be able to do the massages. I can seperate her in the coop with water but it will be all day and night. I am in between a rock and a hard spot now. Thanks for your help though.
Hi everyone. Yesterday I had someone help me dusting the girls and today I noticed one of them with a crop that is kinda sideways. Not centered. She is eating but walks funny. She lifts her right leg real high like to push on her crop. I went to the feed store (I know, I know) for feed and...

No worrys, no offense taken, and no need for apology. One of the problems with the internet is you cant see expression , hear inflection and tone of voice. As for the pool, I have to walk by it every day and cant wait till it turns from an ice skating rink back to a pool.

I'm confused. Why would adding up the cost of all the eggs they would produce in their lifetime (including decline as they age?) be accurate? Wouldn't you instead add up the eggs lost until you get another bird to the point they were upon death? Then that hen takes over where the...
There is some good advice posted about restatution for the birds. I will also add the cost of teh eggs that the hens would have typically produced on average over their lifespan. And the cost of feed you spent to get them to where they were at before the attacks happened... Just a thought.

Your coop looks great! Very nice work!
I'd love to know a ball-park cost! That would be really helpful for me as I plan and dream mine into reality!
No problem, minus the chickens, feed, and pine shavings I have right around 500.00 in the coop and the run. I have 2 extra 4x4's in...
Purpledona... Working with wood is pretty easy, just squares and angles put together. Thanks for the complement tho!
Andy... I plan on gutters but just have not got them yet, been working on run and coop security lately, I just put in welded steel wire fence around the run and hardware cloth...

Their halve is only 4x8. I have 6 Buff Orpingtons. Do ya'all think it would be ok to add 4 more for a total of 10. What would be the safest/healthiest/humane limit? The run is 8x10.
Thanks in advance
John

Thanks a bunch, What is PDz? Can I just go to the feed store and ask for that? Also, if I get the same age and from the same hatch date/flock will I have to quarentine them. And by the way THANKS EVERYONE for all the advise and answering all my questions.
