friendly good long term egg layers...

Hi, I have the same question, but I'm in US (not UK), and I'm asking because my RIR's stopped laying @ 2 years old (about 6 months ago). It may be because they got stressed because I left them for my son to take care of for a while and one got locked out of the coop and eaten by a possum, which...

    Chicken can't stand up

My chicken is doing very well. She's almost completely lost her limp, and she's able to scratch again. Maybe it was just a sprain/pulled muscle.

How bad is it for dogs to eat chicken poop?

It took me a long time to realize my dogs were eating chicken poop. They seem fine. I'm worried about worms because the chickens eat lizards and the lizards carry some type of worm. Chicken can't stand up

    Chicken can't stand up

Found one! BluePearl - only $128 for the visit. I think I should buy a new flock for that much!

    Chicken can't stand up

No luck in finding a vet, Pinellas county FL. The ones recommended on the livestock vet website do NOT handle chickens. Not even the vet tech I know who has chickens has a vet who handles chickens. I'm sure there must be someone out by the fairgrounds who does though - only 45 minutes away!

    Chicken can't stand up

Thank you! She's hopping around on one leg today and eating, although she lies down after a few hops, and balancing gives her trouble in targeting bugs. I'll see if there's a livestock vet around. I don't want to go to someone who will just tell me to euthanize her.

    Chicken can't stand up

My RIR hen (2 years) can't stand up, and I do know why. My chihuahua has been harassing the hens, and I heard a ruckus and found her lying on the ground with her wings out to support her. I turned her upside down and pulled on her legs gently, and she shuddered with pain when her hip was moved...
