We bought the straw ones. They have a backing so they don't come apart easily. They work great. No more broken eggs!!!!

We had the same problem with our girls pulling all of the straw out of the boxes. My husband found nesting pads on Amazon (10 pk) they fit like a glove and now we do not have anymore broken eggs. We placed loose straw on top so they have something to scratch and move around.

Today we had 5 eggs from 8 chickens - we are also chicken sitting for our neighbors and their 7 chickens laid 5 eggs.

What fantastic Ideas. I will have to see what we can do in our run for the girls.

My Golden comet Nugget laid her first egg on Monday !!! She is 4 months old.We have 3 more chickens that are 4 months old and 4 that are 3 months and 2 weeks. I am so excited about being a first time egg mom.

We have 8 chickens and our golden comet Nugget laid her first egg on Monday, since then we have had 1 egg each day!!! Sunday breakfast is going to be so awesome.

As a first time chicken mom I had the same issue. What worked for me was taking some of the babies crumble and wet it, let it sit for a minute and then I scoop some out on my finger and put it in front of them. Then I leave the dish. They will then eat it. After doing this twice the babies...
