Favus? Sinus canker? Or maybe something else?

I managed to get some hydrogen peroxide today from the chemist, it's 6% but it says on the back to dilute 50/50 with water so I did. I soaked a cotton bud with it a few times and applied it to the blocked nare but it isn't making a difference, it's not breaking up with a wooden toothpick. Am I...

Favus? Sinus canker? Or maybe something else?

I caught her in a towel and put some olive oil on it. I did try scraping at it a little bit with a wooden toothpick but it is as hard as a stone and we don't have any peroxide here. I also checked her mouth and throat and couldn't see that yellow stuff they get with sinus canker

Favus? Sinus canker? Or maybe something else?

Does anyone know what this is and if it's treatable? Her right nare is blocked with something. She's a very skittish chicken and won't let people near her, the last time I had to catch her to take her to the vet she got very stressed out. I've read this post...

Could you post a picture of yours?

    What bantam is this?

So probably not much of a chance of finding another like her?

    What bantam is this?

This was one of our bantams that was killed by a fox last year, I miss her and want another like her. She was small, smaller than our other bantams. She had black feathers with a blue/purple tint and yellow tips on her wing feathers

    3 chickens gone, one dead

My mother got them a year ago, I was looking after them until recently and would make sure they were locked in for the night. I'm not home much anymore and my mother started getting confident with leaving the run door open all night so they didn't have to wait to be let out in the morning. I...

    3 chickens gone, one dead

We think it was a fox, can't be sure but must have been big to carry away a full grown RIR and New Hampshire Red. One bantam was dead in the coop, no blood or feathers so maybe she was trampled on in the chaos or died of shock? And then 3 individual piles of feathers in different parts of the...

    3 chickens gone, one dead

We don't have Coyotes in Wales. It happened at around 3am in the morning. I wasn't home so I don't know what happened. Everything I've read about foxes say they kill as much as they can and leave with one body

    3 chickens gone, one dead

Something got in to one of my coops last night, 1 of the bantams was dead in the coop, no blood and head attached. Rhode Island Red missing, 1 New Hampshire red missing and another bantam. There was 3 different lots of feathers around the garden but no bodies. Do foxes come back for bodies in...

    Wet straw

Thank you both. I did smell it, can't really smell anything from it and it looks fine. Saves me going out and buying a new bag

    Wet straw

I don't know if I've posted in the correct section of the forum so administrators and moderators please feel free to relocate the thread. We keep our chicken supplies in a outside storage box and I forgot to close the lid one night and a new bag of straw got wet in the rain. It has since dried...

    Blood in faeces

Here's a update for anyone interested. On day 3 of the antibiotics she laid a soft shell egg and prolapsed quite badly, I rushed her to the vets and they cleaned her and put it back in but the vet said if it happened again she recommended euthanizing. I made the shed as dark as possible but let...

    Blood in faeces

After a trip to the vet today it's not looking good for the bantam with the dirty vent. I bathed her yesterday, applied some canesten cream and for the next 3 hours she strained and screamed. The vet said she felt warm, her abdomen felt hard and she was in pain. They put her on a xray plate and...

    Blood in faeces

I do but 3 of my birds won't let me touch them and panic when I do so I have no idea how I will weigh them. I'm not great with mathematics but I'll save the formula and I'll try and follow your explanation. How are you measuring your doses?

    Blood in faeces

When you say "Equimax dose for a chicken is 0.03 ml per pound" do you mean 0.030ml? So a tiny bit more than the 0.025ml dose? Does anyone know how long cocci takes to become fatal? I've looked at pictures of feces and it looks similar to what I'm seeing from one of those bantams and the vet...

    Blood in faeces

Thank you so much! That tapeworm video looks exactly like what I saw yesterday and good information. I'm just hoping they'll be okay until Tuesday

    Blood in faeces

I did search her name, there's 150 pages of threads so I'll have to look on the weekend when I have more time. Unless you know which threads? I heard back from the vet this morning, he said I can put droppings from a few of my chickens in to one container or just do one bird for the same...

    Blood in faeces

I found worms :( It wasn't in her droppings but the other bantam that came with her and there was a lot. All my bantams came from the same guy, we got 3 a few months ago and they all seem healthy and happy apart from one laying soft shelled eggs. Small white worms on the left Came from this...

    Blood in faeces

She seems a bit better today, looks like she has a bit more energy and has a little bit more colour in her comb. I can't see anything moving in droppings but her vent doesn't look good and she is still drinking a lot of water. I'm having a hard time bathing her because she freaks out and I have...
