No eggs in over a week...

Me too, thank you! We're anxious for our Easter Eggers to start laying so we can see what color eggs they will have! These girls have got to get it together, lol. I have several people wanting eggs!

No eggs in over a week...

I'm waiting for 4 others to start laying too. It's just disappointing not finding those little treasures every day, especially to my 11 year old! Every day he gets home from school he asks if I've already checked for eggs. Lol

No eggs in over a week...

I've got 2 white Leghorns and 1silkie that were laying. They laid like clockwork up until this: 3 days for the WLs then a day off and 2 days for the silkie then a day off.

No eggs in over a week...

I doubt it's a predator as my roos run loose and we have a pretty good guard dog. No signs of eggs being eaten. I'm hoping that the cold snap threw them out of kilter. I will wait with crossed fingers!

No eggs in over a week...

I have had the girls separated from the roos since they started laying. I would rotate the rooster out every so often, but have had them rooster free since they stopped laying just in case he was stressing them. We are getting at least 12 hours of daylight here still. I even deep cleaned the...

No eggs in over a week...

So, 3 of my pullets have started laying in the past couple of months. They were laying on a somewhat regular schedule. When hurricane Irma passed our area, we had a cool snap for about 3 days. Since then, I haven't gotten any eggs! During that time, I ran out of their regular layer pellets and...

    A watched pot...

I do believe Thelma's first is a wind/fart egg! We put it over a light to see the yolk and there isn't one. Still proud of my girl though. It weighs in at exactly 42g. Can't wait to see one with yolk and all!

    Look, look, JUST LOOK!!!

I do believe our first is a wind egg! We put it over a light to see the yolk and there isn't one that we can see. It weighs in at exactly 42g, so I'm curious to see how big one with a yolk will weigh!

    Look, look, JUST LOOK!!!

Oh my goodness!!! I finally got my first egg today! And I must say, it's a beauty! Thelma, the White Leghorn, really made me proud. My youngest son Nathan, aka my chicken helper, checked the nest boxes and came in smiling like the Cheshire cat! Can't wait to see if she produces again tomorrow!

    WTH just happened??!!

Thanks for the advice! The silkie tried to dominate me when I'm sitting, I have started pinning him down til he submits and calms down. Today is the first time anything like this happened. Usually they all part/move when I come through. I'm wondering if it's because I have the girls where they...

    WTH just happened??!!

I hope not! The humper is my favorite one . He always let me hold and pet him, with no resistance/aggression, before I started letting them free range some.

    WTH just happened??!!

The one who tried to hump me likes to peck at my feet, I wonder if that's what he's been trying to do but couldn't get a good grip on my foot???

    WTH just happened??!!

So, I have separated my pullets from my cockerels due to the boys being a little to over zealous with one of my girls. So, just now I'm sitting out by my coop/lot just chilling with them before bedtime... Well one of my EE boys walks up to me, grabs ahold of my arm and mounts my hand!!! Two...

Also, culling is out of the question! I'm too attached and so is my youngest son! I will rehome them if necessary or possibly build another pen/coop for them.

    A watched pot...

I read in another post about the "butt check". I think I may do that later this evening! I'm just sooo ready for an egg! I've been raising these spoiled things since early March, I'm ready for some repayment! LoL

    A watched pot...

The other WL has reddened up considerably in the last few weeks, but she is no where as large combed/wattled or red as the one I think is ready. The roos have started in on the "ready" one in the last week.

We live in the sticks! Lol. We are pretty much surrounded by woods and haven't had any problems with predators so far. I'm afraid to leave my girls out all night cause I feel like the roos could take better care of themselves. I only have the one fully enclosed lot/coop. I'm not happy about...
