    Identifying Fertile Eggs

Hello everyone! So my Silkie Roo is about 7 months old and he's taken to mounting and mating with my 1+ year old Silkie hens, Winnie and Buttercup (he doesn't fuss with the pullets). I recently collected an egg from one of my laying girls and cracked it open to see if it's fertile. I can't...

    Silkies, ladders and roosts

So I'm a new chicken momma, overjoyed to have a flock of 8 silkies: 6 are 41/2 months old, and two are nearly one year old. After months of preparing I finally picked them up about three day ago, so I haven't had them long. Their coop is situated inside one of my horse stalls (extra protection)...

    Silkies in...condo??

The pullets are about 4 1/2 months old, the hens are almost 1 year old. They have roosting bars in their coop, but don't seem interested. The breeder I bought them from had no roosting poles in sight and kept them in shelters on the ground, so I think they're used to just sleeping in a pile. Can...

    Silkies in...condo??

Ok so bear with me here... I'm a new chicken mama, just picked up 8 silkies from a local trusted yesterday- 6 pullets, 2 hens. We have our coop inside a massive stall in our barn. I found that when it was time to sleep the silkies began to nudge each other and try to pile together. After...

    D'anvers on the Eastern Shore

Yes, pullets if possible. No roos in this coop! I wouldn't want chicks now only because I'm new to caring for chickens. Maybe next year if I feel confident I will try out chicks! :)

    D'anvers on the Eastern Shore

Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a breeder of Quail D'anvers in Maryland, Delaware, or Virginia? Many thanks! :D

    MARYLAND THREAD!

Yes there were! Those Polish hens were amazing, and the goose they had was the biggest I've ever seen. The silkies were all quite lovely, and I've never seen so many Seramas! The pigeon club was there too, and they were quite impressive birds.

    MARYLAND THREAD!

Hey that's great! Wasn't that show great? I was there too, that's where I met him! Going to call him up today and let him know I'll be by in a week or so. He sold his Quail D'anvers but is buying some back for me to get my hands on two pullets.

    MARYLAND THREAD!

Oh wow, really? Where are you? We're picking up some pullets from Irish Lane Farms in Dagsboro, DE. I went to the Delmarva Poultry Show with my father and had a blast, and that's where I met John Simmons, the owner of Irish Lane Farms, and he had the breeds I was looking for. Where did you get...
