Thank you for the quick response. I usually give them water with ACV two days a week. (So, maybe it hasn’t been quite a week) I gave it to them today. That may help. Thank you, again.
One of my hens has had runny/watery poop for about a week now. She is otherwise fine. Eating, drinking, laying, etc. Everything I’ve read says not to worry. But the reasons given do not apply to her right now. Any information/help is greatly appreciated. The poop is not always “this” runny, but...
They roost. I hardly ever see poop in the nest box. This is a picture from this morning. It’s not as clear because her fluff was in the way, but you can see poop on her fluff. I may not have trimmed enough. I thought it might be a Cream Legbar thing, but my other one lays clean eggs and her...
I had read before about that being caused by worms. Thanks for sharing. I’m learning a lot in my first year of my obsession with chickens. You might be crazy chicken people if you sit around and talk about poopy eggs.
Thank you for the information on the feed. I do feed them all (I have 9 total, different breeds. 5 of which are now laying) Purina Layena Pellets. They free range all day and the pellets are set out free choice and in the morning before I open their coop. I typically give them whole oats, and...
I have been concerned about that very thing. I hope it's not the case, as well. After raising them from day-old chicks, I'm kind of attached to them now. I haven't noticed her having trouble in the warmer weather, so that's a plus. (Hope springs eternal.)
These two BOs (Grace and Greta) are the exact same age - 5 1/2 months. However, their combs and wattles are drastically different. The one on the left (Grace) has always had a pale comb and wattles. Sometimes it will turn dark when she runs or gets agitated. She is perfectly healthy, as far as...
My Cream Legbar started laying 3weeks ago. Sometimes her eggs have poop on them that looks as though it is getting on the egg as she is laying it. Her feathers around her vent were soiled a little. Can someone tell me if this is vent gleet?
I have had a similar thing happening with my hens. Whenever I put one down this one chicken will attack which ever one I was holding. She does not attack me, just the other hen when I put it down. Any suggestions on this behavior?
These are picture of the bugs that have invaded my coop. I know they are blurry, so if you need more detail, I will take some more shots. Does anyone know what kind of pest I am battling? To me, it looks like it may be two different ones, or it could be the same one at different stages.
Not sure if this for me or the person from France. Either way, I took every precaution I read about before I ever put my flock in the coop. You can read all that I did at the start of this thread. I am extremely paranoid about bugs, and now have to take a shower every time I go out there with...
I'm all new to this. Everything I am reading says wood roost this, and wood roost that. I am building my arsenal, but am thinking of ways to help prevent it from happening again. I am going to caulk every crack and crevice in my coop. The coop is made out of masonite siding, OSB, and pressure...
