    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

@wyldflwr Honestly, I see nothing wrong with FF in the morning and dry for the rest of the day if that works for you. I'm not in the "all or none" FF camp. I feed one or the other (or both) depending on how much time I have on any given day. As far as spoiling goes, I suggested that it...

I don't think it would "spoil" in a day, but if they have leftovers by nightfall, you're feeding too much. If you can, I'd work on fine tuning the portions.

*sigh* I cannot recall how long it's been since I've eaten a cookie of any sort. Amongst my other odd quirks, I eat a Primal diet and traditional cookies are not on the menu. Ah, the PNW. Such beautiful country. Lucky you! "We all have to do what makes sense for us" Wise words there. I...

Yay! I'm not alone and we both deserve a cookie!! (Oatmeal Raisin is my favorite, if anyone feels like baking....) Cookies=good, stirring the pot=bad. I have to say that I was in this camp too, until reading this thread and seeing it mentioned several times that Bee has fed straight layer to...

Perspectives from those that have real free-range flocks

Mine are the same, though any given night about half the flock roosts in the coop. It's rarely the same group though, which perplexes me. I can't figure out what the deciding factor is for them on whether to coop or not to coop.

Perspectives from those that have real free-range flocks

Oh, boy, do I know about owl kills. It's awful finding those bodies. We had that problem and it seemed like more and more owls moved in and surrounded the place every night. We lost so many birds. Finally moved the flock to the new farm and haven't seen or heard owls around. Yet.

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Well alrighty! I can now say that I've read all 8056 posts in this thread. It took 5 days of reading between chores and whatnot, and several nights of staying up way too late. There's a ton of great information scattered throughout, but I have to say that just before midway through the thread...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Thanks for the warm welcome, EggSighted4Life. I'm actually not new to BYC (joined in '07), was active here for several years, then life got busier and I took a pretty long hiatus. We purchased another farm (where I stay most of the time now) and I decided to embark on a new breeding program, so...
