update on the chicks. The feather footed black chicken didn't make it. Not long after i posted it deceased. The second chicken grew atuft in its head! Still looking an idenity!

I just wanted to update this post. Our hens turned out to be a gorgeous Golden Laced Wyandotte which won a ribbon! The others were a RIR and Plymouth Rock!

Thanks! In my online searches the only feathered black leg chicks that looked similar were pictures of silkies. I guess I'll have to wait a few more weeks and see what they start to look like! I'm excited 😊

I keep seeing silkies pop up in my searches too!

Even if they're 'mutts' do you have any thoughts on lineage? It's just that I've never had a chicken with feathered feet so I know this will be a new breed to my flock.
