It is horribly stressful, hatching chicks! I didn't think I would want to do it again after my first hatch. I think my bator stayed empty 5 days?
Ditto leaving it alone, and don't worry about the other one yet either. One of mine pipped way early, and there was NOTHING out of the second...
My favorite little peep turned out to be a roo too. I hadn't planned on keeping his color, but there is no way I can part with the little guy now. If I have to get him more lady friends later on, so be it!

I'm gonna take a wild stab and say cockeral. Because it has a single comb and my cochins are 12 weeks and the pullets STILL have no red in thier combs. I could see the difference between pullets and cockerals in my cochins by 5 weeks. Hopefully I'm wrong!
So far I only have 2 that I see development on, but I'm only on day 5. Of course one of them is in an egg that has a busted air cell. So now I'm super worried about it.
