Just about to lockdown my bantam eggs. This is my first batch I've only hatched ducks before and it's terrifying.
I think they're all fine. A couple have dark shells so it's really hard to see what"s going on but the very dark area is as big as the others....
Can someone let me know the temp...
Fantastic....so excited for you.
We're inundated with eggs so I've popped 2 duck and 5 bantam eggs into the incubator today. Why not they're all so cute.
I've decided to sell some chooks (chickens) so I can try some other duck breeds. There's a limit to the number of birds I'm allowed to keep...
Yayy so happy for you.
3 of mine hatched in the end. Wiggles and jiggle didn't make, I think the were too big to position themselves as they didn't even try to inner pip. The other 2 I was always unsure about as their air cells looked weird.
3 out of 7 is good for me but it's so sad to lose...
Sorry you haven't had any luck but sooo cute. I'd love to add breeds but I will need new runs for that to work.
I'll go try and take a picture through the lid of the bator. 2 babies now and they're trashing the place. I don't want to move them until the other pipped egg hatches.
I sure will. Super excited, 2 cicks that pipped are chirping away and another that I was worried about has started wobbling to the music, still no internal pip that I can see but definitely alive.
For all my fear about humidity I decided to check the room humidity and it's the same as the...
So I boosted the humidy with hot water for the benefit of the other eggs pulled it out quick smart and candled it.
It's still alive in there. Has been wobbling for days but has stopprd. It hasn't internally pipped but miracle of miracles it's alive. So I've put it back to give it a go.
Help my duck eggs are in lockdown and 3 are pipping, no idea how successfully.
I have noticed that another egg that was wobbling this morning has started to turn grey and from reading other posts I believe this means it"s dead.
Should I remove it? I'm terrified to open the incubator and I don't...
Not sure what's going on. Wiggles seems to have stopped wobbling and I suspect one that pipped yesterday may have failed. Can I take it out to look or should I just leave it?
What kind of duck is that please. My not so pure blue swedish crossed with my pekin and produced a duck with identical markings to that but with a pekin build and posture.
Really sorry to hear that. These little blighters break our hearts. I've only successfully hatched 3 ducklings to date and 1 died after a couple of days.
I"m putting together a new kitchen to keep myself from staring at my eggs all day!!
Keeping everything crossed this end.
Sorry to hear of your sad news. How far did they get, guess I'm wondering how you know. Some of mine aren't wobbling but without taking them out there's no way of knowing if they're ok so I'm just assuming they are as one egg is way wobblier than the...
Oops heavy fingered this morning...
Not struggling to break through the membrane. It's been 2 days of very active wobbling so I confess I'm beginning to worry.
