Ok so big mistake...
I put the little newbie in with the ones that hatched before and they started pecking it!!! Soooooo
Not sure what to do....
I removed the baby and put him/her in a single brooder again.
She does!!! She won't let our male dog near them. She licks them and lays by their brooder box at night. We catch her looking in on them all the time during the day
The one that took its time to get out of shell died last night and it was perfectly fine so I don't understand!! The one with the yolk sac is still hanging in!!
I had a little medicine syringe and I put it to their bill to let some touch it because it has electrolytes in it. They both got maybe 1 drop but I didn't want to force them to take any.
Yes :(
I wiped it from the nose with a Qtip
We moved them from the incubator to a small brooder with a heat lamp because in the incubator they kept trying to get up and they were stepping and sliding because of the moisture on the sac(the other one is out and it seems to have a little sac but...
This is this morning when I smelled something horrid. I thought he had passed but they are very much alive! But it looks like this..... so now I have him resting again a little cleaned off in a little dish with a soft sock.
I hesitated to even do anything once we saw the sac because I remember you guys saying do not touch them or you can kill them. But he came out faster than any of the other eggs. It seriously was like 12 hours and he was half way out ! It's very sad! The other egg is still taking its time!
So this is how much of the yolk there is.... I got rid of the damp rag, but we have no paper towels :(
So I have the egg and the duck propped up in a cup. It looks uncomfortable :hit
:barnieThe ducklings that were a week behind my other 2 started hatching yesterday and while I was gone made its way half out of the shell. We were all excited while watching it until my daughter noticed that the yolk sac is still outside of the duckling. I don't remember where I saw this but I...
We are going to the farm store today and I will get stuff. Yes this is the one I helped a little :(
I held the baby for a little and it's peeping and stuff so that is good!! The other one is so active and moves all over the little one
Yes they wouldn't dry in the incubator so we put them in brooder. My friend who raised ducks says they are welsh's ???? A boy and girl. Not sure how she knew that already????
