We were thinking about just doing bought chicks raised for a few weeks then selling them so she can make more than incubating eggs. Incubator question

Sounds great. We might hatch them or we might buy them as babies and raise them until they are 4 weeks-9 weeks. We figured it out and our daughter could make $150+ a month or $900-1000 over the summer after expenses raising 30 of them at a time February thru end of August. I told her after she...

Their mom's will be Polish, Barr Rock, Easter Eggers, Rhode Island, Australorp, silver laced Wyandotte and Bramha. We would raise them to 4-9 weeks old and sell them. Have any of you...

    Opossum Attack, Really!?

So glad to hear they survived! We have fort Knox so predators typically cannot get in. We had one 6-7 month old possum get into run when chickens were asleep and locked in their coop. It was a young one. Needless to say it did not make it out.

    Pullet or cockerel?

Our chicken is a Lavender Orpington. We thought she is a she but now she is towering over all of other chickens. Is she a she or he? I attached 2 pictures from different angles. I am starting to think a rooster since the ear waddles starting coming in.

Clipping Wings - Yes or No?

Do you have a covered run? If you do I would say no. If you don't I would say yes but make sure you know what you are doing. We have a 10X10 covered run that is 6 feet tall. Our chickens enjoy flying. We often watch them fly around the run, resting on the top of the coop and flying up to a...
