Yes he has two hens which I think is funny because he'll sometimes ignore them and follow me instead. The hens are still fairly young but fully feathered. He is about a couple of months older or so since I got them later on after his intended mate died while they were still babies.
I haven't...
I've never had ducks before and I was wondering what it means when my drake lifts his wings/head, quacks, and darts his head forward whenever he sees me sometimes? Is it courtship behavior? Can't really find anything on the subject and I'm just curious.
(He's a Rouen if that matters.)
The swelling has gone down quite a bit on it's on since I made this thread and now it's mostly just his face that is puffy. I gave him the Vetrx yesterday and the bubbling at the corner of his eye has disappeared so I'm wondering if he didn't injure it somehow and the swelling/yellow discharge...
Yes it is only one eye even though the other has the white discharge in the feathers underneath. I'll try the Vetrx first since it won't hurt anything anyway and if it doesn't clear up from using that, I'll try something else since he's still behaving normally/not acting sick in any way aside...
At this point I'm pretty certain that it is eye worms (without actually confirming by checking for them and as bad as it sounds I haven't prepared myself to look. Yikes. Especially not after that video). Because as long as he's had discharge from the eyes - which is about 2 years now - none of...
Sadly, no I can't get him to a vet. I live in Kentucky if that helps and today he seems more energetic and there's no smell so maybe it wasn't coming from his eye at all? I'm confused
Also, he's had all the symptoms of the worms for a long time until this point..
and I need to know how much Vetrx to add to add to how much water and how many drops to administer? Thanks! Unfortunately I have to get it through the mail so it will be a while before I can help the poor guy :(
And as a side note I have seen that you're supposed to put some of the solution on...
I can't find it anywhere on the bag or doing a google search as the niacin content. Also I have an odd suggestion (not that I would just give it to them!) but I have a drink enhancer that I use that has vitamin b3, b6, and b12. However, it has high caffeine content and it says not to give to...
I've always fed her meat bird crumbles and never just plain chick starter. I did decide to put a little apple cider vinegar in her water since I've seen more than one person say it works to perk their ducks up when they're unwell and I think I even saw something about helping with...
To clarify I use paper in the box they used to sleep in inside and I just rinse out the cage they stay in outside when necessary as I said above. I will add that I saw her have another seizure this morning and she isn't drinking now either I don't think..
On Wednesday night my Rouen chick (I'm not sure how old she is maybe around 11-10 weeks?) had a seizure at around 9:30 pm. I was letting her stay in a cardboard box with her mate and I heard a loud thump from inside as I let them sleep in my room for just that reason in case anything goes wrong...
