How do pullets act before laying first egg?

From what have read about a jersey seems like they don't stop growing until like 3! Is this true? As of now she towers over all the other girls. She was supposed to be an australorp but I don't think she is. Her feet are very dark black, yellow and black underneath. She doesn't have an...

How do pullets act before laying first egg?

Oh I hope so! Kids said they heard them sing their song but I haven't. Guess I should get a bigger nesting box put in for my big myrtel, she doesn't fit well in a standard box. Maybe a milk crate?

How do pullets act before laying first egg?

I have a few pullets,3 barreds 2 buffs 1 possible jersey giant and few bantam barnyard mixes. They are all about 16-18 weeks old. My possible jersey started acting strange tonight, randomly sitting in the yard twitching her butt and tail picking at it, with the 2 largest barreds around her. The...

So it seems like my second bantam roo got kicked out of the flock today! We were out of town for the day so they didn't get to free range all day, they have been sneaking away and hiding, but have a small run so they can get outside. But he just seems sad and lonely everytime I look he is all...

    Introducing new members

I will be getting possibly 3 new hens added to my flock and removing 2 roos. They are all about 8 weeks old. I will have to hold the 2 roos for the weekend until my sister leaves town. Will everyone be ok? Should I separate or just let them work it out? My hens still chirp but 3 of my 5 roos...

    What is she?

Was wondering if anyone might know what breed this hen is? I was told she is an austrolorp but she doesn't seem to look like them. She has a very tiny comb that all most looks gray or black. She is a large chicken the biggest I have and I think she is 8 weeks? I was thinking maybe a black...

They all have grown up together since about 2 weeks old I think the coop is 4x8 maybe. They could probably get away but they are already squabbling if the others try to crow the main one won't let them. I think I have homes for everyone right now as long as they all follow through. I have...

    The Rooster Thread!

I think I will just have to give him away and keep my sons bird. Right now 3 bantams have crowed so that leaves me with just 3 bantam hens. The buff is starting to try and crow I think and the barred doesn't know what he wants to do yet lol just be cocky and chase everyone. I hope the questioned...
