I used gardstar garden and poultry dust. I lightly dusted them and put underneath their bedding. Problem is I haven't actually seen any bugs. I heard mites crawl around at night so will check tonight. They seem to be itching a little less but definitely still itching.
Update- I made all my adjustments and that original chick as far as I know has had only one episode and as usual when I clean the brooder, except it lasted much shorter and he hasn't had another for any other cleanings. What I did discover, however, is they have been excessively itching and...
Just got home to the chicks they're all doing okay. I switched the corid water out back to their normal vitamin and electrolytes, and they're in the sun for the first time for a little and will lower the temperature. Thankyou for everyone's input will update if anything goes astray!
They more just struggle the whole time kind of flipped out and confused why they can't use their legs. I also have been using vitamins in their water and medicated chick feed. I guess maybe it's just the lack of sunlight?
Thanks! I've been using duravex vitamins and electrolytes in their water (except today I replaced with corid). If I stop the corid today since it's looking like it's not coccidiosis would you suggest the nutri drench in addition to the duravex?
Yes I have a thermometer in there set and I watch if they are cold or hot. Yes heat lamp is only on one side. I just never had any windows open for daylight so I need to change that asap for just a few hours.
Okay thank you so much! So it looks like I should remove the corid, add sunlight, and bring back their water with vitamins and electrolytes and quit giving the garlic herbs and yogurt? My thinking was if coccidiosis I must treat asap before it gets so bad they have bloody poo and perhaps save a...
I actually searched videos of it because I first thought that especially since it was when I first added some sand to the brooder but no. So these episodes normally happen when I clean the brooder and stress them out. I try to pick them up and put them back on their feet and they stumble or take...
Thanks for the replies! Now I'm wondering if I made the wrong move replacing their water that I add duravex vitamins and electrolytes with the corid today. Think I should switch back to the vitamin water tonight? Also been giving them garlic mashed into Greek yogurt and sometimes add a little...
This could make sense! I have them in a bedroom inside my brooder with the red heat lamp all shades shut since I also incubate in this room. I can move them to another room with sunlight. Will this kill them or have hurt them the past week? I just didn't want the sun shining on them making them...
I will definitely consult a vet but meanwhile what would cause seizures? They're completely aware during the episode fully conscious (then again my small dog has seizures just like these chicks if thats what's going on). I hope treating them with corid was a good move, I can't find anything else...
Chicks acting off balance, help please! My bantam silkie and polish chicks are 12 days old, I incubated them myself (shipped eggs) and don't have any other birds nearby. About 3 days ago I found one in the middle of the night wheeling around in circles on its wing as his leg was paralyzed at the...
