Thank you all for your replies. They have not had any wood ash.
It seems to be just one hen, but I'm going to keep a close eye on all of them. I will keep y'all posted.
They have been having blueberries, but other than that it's their laying feed, grass, watermelon and occasional leftover veggies. Nothing blue, black or purple other than the blue berries. When it dries it's dark gray and chalking.
I'll add a pic
Please help. I have a hen pooping this black ashy poop. It's been going on for a few days. I don't know which hen it is, no one is showing any signs of illness. I looked up Poo on this sight but didn't see any pictures like this.
Thanks y'all. I decided to be that person. Lol. The chick was born May 14, so just shy of 4 weeks. I'll look for a better pic.
The Roo has an interesting story. A man thought he had run over it. Only to drive more than an hour away and be in a store when someone asked who was driving such and...
Well good golly. Today my Buff Orpington is running around like nobody's business. Eating, drinking water. Only thing is she keeps her eyes closed A LOT.
I did have 2 eggs instead of one today, so maybe it's the toll of laying her first egg? I have 8 others with her so other than one hen I...
Thank you for your reply.
She is still alive this morning, huddled by a wall eyes closed!! She has no meat on her breast bone. She did a day or two ago. I have been checking them as I dose them with meds.
There is one vet in the area that treats chickens but my work schedule precludes me...
The very sick chicken was isolated. I know the poop of a second one and the 3rd sample was a mystery. The very sick isolated chicken tested positive for coccidia and capalaris. The other 2 samples were negative to all parasites.
I treated ALL 10 chickens as if they had Coccidia and Capillaris.
I have 10. One I knew was sick and she tested positive for both. Two samples from the 9 others tested negative to all parasites.
I have treated all 10 as if they had both.
It blows my mind that one day they are fine and the next day partying with the grim reaper. Or in this case in the same...
She was eating, drinking and being the top dog as recent as this morning.
To be honest I doubt she will make until tomorrow.
I'm so frustrated as to what is going on!
So for those of you who have been following me I have treated my hens for Coccidia and Round worm - Capillaris. Only one of 3 fecal samples tested positive. NOW, after Corid and Panacur, I have a hen in a corner, eyes closed and limp. She was fine yesterday!! Help!
She is 5 months old.
I was giving a lower dose than I was supposed to, so now I am going to give her 1 more day of Corid.
Today was her last dose of Panacur.
I have a vitamins & electrolyte blend I will start tomorrow. I don't recall the name brand.
Forgive the ongoing saga for those who been helping me with medicine: I have a Delaware hen that is approximately five months old. She is recovering from Capillaris, which is roundworm and from Coccidia. She eats well, drinks fluid well and keeps her head up and is perky. She however is very...
