    Crazy attacking drake

I have a 4 month old Muscovy drake- felix. Lately he has been charging after us (the humans who live here) and biting. He had a brother- however poor Henry injured himself and passed away about a week ago He's in a large enclosure with 6 chickens and 6 other ducks- they are younger than...

    Duck on it's back?!!

i just got this girl a week or so ago. She's about 2-3 months old I found her on her back this morning and again just a few minutes ago- about 15 minutes ago she was in her feet. Otherwise she seems fine, walking fine eating and drinking. Why does she keep going on her back? She doesn't seem...

    Muscovy keepers share your pics!

The young r ducks have had two full days being with the larger drakes (supervised fully for the first few hours, the rest of the day I was outside and close by) with no issues. The drakes did a couple small pecks but nothing crazy- all day today I haven't seen any pecks they all seem to be...

    Feeding laying hens...

Okay good- so what I'm doing now will work for them then? They do free range a good bit so I'm sure they get a good amount of protein, lots of grass and all kinds of bugs and whatever else they nibble up!

    Feeding laying hens...

I have 6 is a brown chickens that are about 17 weeks old. I have read a lot of people switch to laying feed, do I have to do this in order to get eggs/good eggs? They share a coop with my Muscovy ducks, and they all share food. Currently I feed them purina flock raiser as well as snacks...

    Muscovy keepers share your pics!

We are pretty careful with the dogs and bird together- they're always supervised. MY one girl- charlotte seems to always want to mother the ducklings. But we don't let her get too close just in case. Aside from this one photo- because it's cute.

    Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I assumed these drakes already had raging hormones! Haha they're sweet and cute. But can be little buttheads. The one bit me earlier- it didn't hurt but still And they don't run from the dogs anymore - they stand their ground and bite the dogs. It's kind of funny. (It doesn't hurt the dogs...

    Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I did let them hang out together- supervised. The drakes are still biting at them Hopefully they chill out a bit soon! I try to give them supervised time daily so they can get used to each other but not actually get hurt. Otherwise they are separated by a fence.

The little ones still give them a little peck once in a while, but not as much as they did. They all follow each other now rather than avoid.

Housing/feeding- am I doing it right?

Ah, there was a typing error I do feed un medicated. I worried about the overhead cover as well. So far no issues. They are able to go in under cover if they choose. There's a lot of tree coverage, although that's not exactly the best haha. So far we have had no issues with predators-...

Housing/feeding- am I doing it right?

After doing some reading here I just want to see if I am providing proper housing for my ducks as I'm still new to this. What I have is a pretty decent sized enclosure, inside of that is the chicken coop, chickens go in to sleep at night and the door is always open since it's already in side...

    What color are these Muscovy?

Since we are on the topic of colors...As I research the colors I see white, that are all white. My white drakes have some black in their heads, is that common? They do have the blue eyes.

    What color are these Muscovy?

It's going alright! The little ones seem to be warming up to them a bit. I expanded their area. To give them more room to spread out. (I have one big enclosure, then the ducklings are in a smaller enclosure inside of the big one)

    What color are these Muscovy?

Okay. That's what I figured. I just have the new girls in with the ducklings, they are pretty close in size. The girls are a bit bigger. I'm not quite ready to have my two big drakes with them just yet. Maybe in a few days depending on how things go. These girls are clearly not used to...

    What color are these Muscovy?

The ducklings, that are smaller and younger than my new females are pecking at the new ones, they are together right now as I watch them in a very large pen. Only peck at them when they are close together. Do you think they will get used to each other soon? I didn't realize the ducklings could...
