I did an autopsy this morning on my most recent dead peacock. Are these the types of black spots on the liver that would suggest blackhead?

This was 2 days before the first one died out of nowhere. Im going to have to order a scale but im afraid they will be dead before then. They were all doing great. It was rainy and cold for 2 days then snow. I assume the cold weather brought it on. Since first one died they have heat lamps. 3...

    help! sick peacock

Thankyou for your reply!!! I'm having to guess their weights so I am splitting 250mg tab between 4 of them. They are 7 months and have lost a lot because they are weak. I don't have a scale so I'm hoping this works.

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

I'm back with another question! My peas are almost 3 months and doing great! I'm considering putting them in the ground soon and have some more worming questions. I've read about safeguard for goats and ivomectin. Can I give them at the same time, twice yearly? Seems like everybody dies...

    Corid as a Preventative

I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping I can get some help. I just put my 12 chicks,3-4 weeks old, outside on the ground today. They are on medicated feed, but should I use corid in their water as a preventative as well? I live in a hot, wet climate so I want to play it safe. Any...

    Peachicks lice?

Lice are gone. I was just asking questions today about sneezing. They seem great, outdoors now in a raised pen but all of them will sneeze here and there with no other symptoms. Thinking it may be some DE that I put in there house to try and keep lice away. So I cleaned out the house today and...

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

The lice are at bay for now, but I will use ivermectin if they come back. I'll do a clean out of their bed and see if the sneezing stops. Thanks so much!

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

Thankyou for your help. They are on medicated game bird starter. Do you still recommend the other medication? They can sometimes reach a tall piece of grass through their cage but cannot contact dirt directly. I have some smooth, clean, debarked limbs in their cage to roost on. I also have DE...

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

They are about 6 weeks. I got them from a breeder that had them in a brooder room in a barn with thick pine shavings on floor. I've had them about 3 weeks and have kept them inside my house until we built a pen for them that is off of the ground. I had to treat them all for lice about 2 weeks...

Peafowl 103: Illness, Injury, Medication and Care (in progress)

I was reading here about peachicks sneezing and see 2 possible issues, parasites or respiratory infection. I just noticed that all 6 of my peachicks are sneezing. No other symptoms. Should I go ahead and treat with an antibiotic? If so, what do I get?

Chick pipped wrong end 20hrs ago

Update: after 30 hours and no turning or zipping I removed shell in a zip line but chick still could not break out. Membrane was very rubbery so I tore little bits until it pushed out. A loud, fiesty little chick is doing great!

Thankyou very much! The membrane is a little tan at opening but chick is moving and breathing well. I guess I'll just sit tight!

Chick pipped wrong end 20hrs ago

Asking advice on whether or not i should help my chick that pipped on the wrong end. It has been 20 hrs and has been breathing, peeping, and looks like it is trying to move but it can't. I peeled away a piece of shell only but nothing has progressed. It moved earlier and a tiny bit of blood was...
