    What is this?

Thanks so much! She hasn’t been scratching, so I’m pretty sure she’s still moulting. Thanks for the help :)

    What is this?

I’m new to chickens and have just gone through the first moult with my 3 hens. All fine, all looking great. Then recently I’ve noticed that one has lost feathers from the top of her head. It looks the same as when the other hen was being picked on and they pecked her feathers out, but this...

    Sexing Silkies

Hello, I know you get asked this a lot, and I know it’s difficult to tell with silkies but I thought I’d give it a go! Can you help me sex my two silkies please? We bought eggs for our broody pekins to hatch and we have 2 silkies. For a while one seemed slightly larger than the other, but now...

    Possible Roos?

They both look the same as each other (as far as I can tell!) so I think I either have 2 pullets or 2 cockerels...crossing my fingers for pullets :D

    Possible Roos?

Thank you! There's been no chest butting yet. I'll have to wait and see whether they are roosters when it's a bit more obvious :)

    Possible Roos?

Our two chicks (3 week old silkies) have started play fighting quite regularly, where they jump up at eat other with their feet and flap their wings. Does this mean we have 2 roosters?! I can only keep them if they are hens and I've grown so attached already ☹️ Do hens play like this too?

    Pekin and Silkie Treats?

The pekin mums are very unadventurous unfortunately so maybe the chicks are learning from them. The chicks love their daily scrambled eggs! They are on crumb and an egg a day mostly, with the occasional mealworm stolen cucamelon.

    Pekin and Silkie Treats?

Hello, My 3 pekin bantam hens and 2 silkie chicks (3 weeks old) LOVE dried mealworms. I also recently managed to grow cucamelons for the first time (the look like grape sized watermelons and taste like limey cucumbers). I was very excited about finally getting to try them but it seems the...

    When to stop worrying?

We started with one broody, then as we were trying to break her the other two went broody! Tried to break all 3 and ended up having to give them eggs to sit on. I'd have been much happier with only one broody! :D

    When to stop worrying?

These are my first ever chicks after only having the hens for a month before they went broody! I feel like a new mum :D

    When to stop worrying?

Thanks. I do feel better now they're getting bigger and seem happy. I'll try to worry less :D

    When to stop worrying?

Hello, I currently have 2 chicks under 3 broody hens (they all coparent very nicely and all going well). They are 6 days old. We started with 6 eggs, 4 hatched and 2 chicks died within 24 hours of hatching. I made sure they had everything they needed, mums were keeping them warm, all seemed...

    The chicks came out!

The chicks (now 5 days old) came out today and had an explore, while very closely watched by their 3 mums. Cute little first adventure :)
