    Spaying

Thank you. The avian vet her is the only one around and she like the hormone treatment because she charges an arm and a leg for it. I’ve read it should cost well under 100 while she’ll charge 3-400. Is Davis is the closest and I may just go even though it’s far away.

    Spaying

She is only constantly in pain when egg bound. She’s had the hormone Injection and wasn’t laying during that time and in the winter she stopped laying in turn she was a happy little feisty hen. This is why I’m on here asking if anyone knows of a vet that’ll perform the surgery for her. I can...

    Spaying

She is constantly egg bound. Avian vet thinks it may be her reproductive system. They offer a hormone chip injection to stop her from laying , but it only works for 3-4 months and cost 300-400 each time. Plus, the hormone injection causes her not to be herself. We love her and want her as a...

I need to find a vet that will spay my hen. All vets that see chickens will only give us the hormone to stop egg laying and they charge a fortune each time. How do I find a spaying vet in Silicon Valley?

    Pullet layed an egg

Wow! Yes! She's small like yours? Do you think that they are too small to keep with large hens? I have an orphington, legbar, Americana, and one more.

    Pullet layed an egg

Hi everyone. So last week I posted about my family bringing home a chick that was in the park. Thanks to you all, we somewhat know the breed. We've kept her quarantined and have been treating her like a baby, however, she started to purr and layed an egg. She is extremely small. She is 1/3...

    rooster or hen?

Maybe that's why we found her in the park? She's so small, all her feathers but very small. When she saw our hens she acted dominant. There was no water in the park and she was spotted there for two days. So naturally, we rescued her. Hoping all goes well.

    rooster or hen?

Is there anything that we should do to help it? Or what to watch for? We are brand new to all of this. Just when I think I'm getting my own hens down, lol.

    rooster or hen?

Hi, We found and rescued this young one in the park. We have hens already, and know that we can't have any roosters. Does anyone know this breed and if it's a rooster or a hen? Oh, and rules about quarantine. Thanks.
