    Got Gloriosa daisy seed in the mail today. Mine did not reseed very well. Got 1 plant. I like the yellow and red type and my 1 plant is yellow this year.

    Getting smoke from Canada. Did a lot outside yesterday due to cooler temps. I think I got all the poison hemlock this year. Now trying to get rid of all the button weed / velvet leaf. Mowed some more and pulled more weeds. Did some bud grafting.

    This morning before the rain started I found 4 tomato hornworms. 2 very small 1 a little bigger and 1 a little bigger than that one. The hunt begins. Not much damage yet.

    Pickling cukes and first ripe tomato. The 2 tomato plants were labeled Mortgage lifter when I bought them. It is not. No slicers for me this year. :(

    Rainy day, night and into tomorrow. Flood watch. Heat, humidity and rain makes it tough to do gardening. Pulled some weeds, Put sprouted hollyhock seeds into their own solo cups. Bud grafted and air layered. Picked 1 cucumber. They have not started in earnest yet but soon.

    Lebanese cucumbers are sprouting. A late season crop if it makes it.

    Lost most of a winter squash plant to SVB. It entered up the vine not near the base where I was watching. Hollyhock seed I planted up in 3 days. All the rain and skeeters are multiplying.

    Rain stopped. 2 1/2 inches since Tuesday. 7 1/4 inches when I returned. Over double of average so far this month. Japanese beetles are here. Pulled some weeds.

    Went out between rains and found 2 full size pickling cucumbers. Low near the ground. :celebrate Took pictures but no idea where it put them. Already erased SD card.

    Heavy rain and thunder again. Flood watch. More rain Monday. Makes it hard to do outdoor stuff. The rain keeps the humidity high.

    Wood ash makes me think of lye soap. Alkali or base as they say now. I use it in the garden.

    Thundershowers and 91. Found a female cucumber flower today. Looks like it bloomed yesterday. Hollyhock flowers are done.

    Gypsum will loosen soil and act like lime on PH. Soften soil brand around here.

    Picked the few blackberries that were ripe and pulled weeds. Short periods outside then back inside to cool off. Cucumbers are climbing and still only male flowers. Wind destroyed and air layer while I was gone. Coons got one before I left. I will redo those.

    Mowed some. It is tough out there. Very humid early or hotter and humid later. Heat advisory and 94 predicted. Planted some purchased yellow hollyhock seed single and I have some yellow double sprouted. I like yellow but you seldom see them growing.
