Just curious, while sitting in the coop, one of my birds named pepper was sitting on my shoulder and she would occasionally make a noise that sounded like a combination between a purr and a chirp, when another one of my birds heard this she would sometimes relay a similar noise. Is she just...
Welcome! This thread is all about posting cool pictures of your chickens! I’ll start!(You can post pictures of other kinds of fowl too!) Please note that these pictures are a little outdated and some of the chickens here have noticeably aged, so I’ll try to post newer pictures of them soon!
So around 4 months ago I got her as a day old chick from my pet chicken. She, of course is a black cochin. Notice her eyes though, cochins usually have bright yellow eyes yet her’s are a very dark brown. Do you think she has some australorp genes or something? I’m really curious!
My hen Peggy is sitting on 6 eggs and rolling them under her! However I have no roosters so the eggs are not fertile. I would like to buy some fertile eggs to put under her, but I have no idea on how to do it. Please help!
I have had silver (the chicken) for a very long time and I still have no idea what breed she is. What do you think? (Don't be fooled by the overhead pictures she is very short)
I've been hearing about people hatching emus lately and I am deeply confused. I would love to hear about keeping emus because they are known as such nasty birds.
Thank you all for helping! It was wonderful hearing from you all and I really appreciate the support!
(if you were wondering why I'm posting so slow I've just been kinda lazy today)
It's so nice to hear from all of you about your wonderful chickens! I tend to get smaller flocks so it's hard to choose which breeds to get, so thanks for making it easier to pick! Speckled sussexes seem like such nice birds so I'm considering getting some along with Cochins, Orpingtons and Brahmas.
To clear up a few things, I am not a beginner, I've had chickens for years, however I am somewhat new to hand raising chickens and have only hand raised 4 salmon faverolles.
