Don’t attach the screws directly through the curtain holes. Use those holes as guides on where to install your grommets and then put the screws (with washers) through the grommets. Your curtains will not rip this way. I will update my post to reflect this as it may not have been clear.
Sorry I am JUST getting this. Yes I used screws and washers to attach the curtains to the frame. DO NOT use screws and washers directly onto the curtain as it will rip with a gust of wind. You’ll have to install the grommets first. It is easier than you think. I spaced them out about 18” to...
The seed starter mat was just an idea - after doing a little more research, I decided against it bc the chickens would only want to hang out and roost there. I have zero heat in my coop which is probably the best thing.
I agree. I could have learned this the hard way but thanks to people like you, I am able to avoid those deadly mistakes. A solar intake and outlet vent sounds like a killer idea :)
We left for Disneyland before Christmas 2017 and I had my neighbor take care of my chickens. He did a great job feeding and cleaning the poop. One oversight was that I left the run exposed to the elements — a healthy snowstorm came in and filled the inside with snow. My chickens tracked it...
My wife JUST made almond milk and I was hoping that it’d be fine to feed my hens the left over almond remains. You truly do find any answer you are searching for on the internet :)
You can jump on your local Craigslist and find the RING CAMERAS (you'll even find some with solar if you're lucky). I have one in the coop and one in the run itself. Always remember that you pay for what you get. RING has never let me down, but be sure to get the wifi signal extender too.
I have some artificial turf that I was thinking about using in my new coop. I have 3 bays in my nesting box and was thinking about cutting six pieces of artificial turf (only 3 at a time would be used). When it's time for cleaning, I'll take the 3 out and put the other 3 in immediately...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New to chickens and have never had any my entire life. We have had some eggs from friends and they taste AMAZING!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
As I am filling this out, I don't have any yet, but we are thinking of...
Looks like drip edge. Roofers use this at the end of shingles and above the eave to prevent cracking of the shingles. This is a good idea. Thanks for sharing!
