Yes, If your producing some volume of eggs and meat that is being sold regularly, I'd really like to hear about it. It'll all help me make better choices in my plan!
Anyone else????
Hello all. I have a question for you that i've been pondering. Of the quail folks here, how many of you are really at a true "production" level? is that for egg sales, or meat? if egg, whats your flock size, 100?500? meat bird?? how many dozen eggs do you sell?
thx
Do you also like ducks or geese? A duck can be a good friend. We lost 1 chick, the remaining chick was so lonely. That was until “Angie” came. Best of buds now. Took a day or so but they sure love one another’s company. Snuggle up together to nap. Sure, their size difference looks odd but they...
We lost a beautiful chick, ms tally, recently for the same reason. ( splay legs). Hard to see happen but overcoming this is basically impossible. It actually affects both legs while you only see the one that appears injured. This is because the bird will try to balance itself on one, twisting...
Well it’s a little bit later in the season but if fertile the calendar means very little. Set’em, turn’em and bake’em. Remove when done! Hehe
Can’t hardly wait while my last three are in the incubator. Im looking forward to seeing those cute faces.
That’s certainly correct, start with multiple eggs if you are able to. We began with two this hatching season. All was well until just after the hatching of number one. She was beautiful!! But, something just didn’t seem right. We saw an experienced ratite vet and he confirmed there were some...
I set my final three I’ve gotten this season about 10 days ago. Still have a long haul ahead yet.
On a side note, I received the first egg out of the first hatch of quail out of the incubator this season.
Ok, here's the deal. The very first thing you have to do is, quit worrying. They are tough little buggers in shell. Just consider how the temp would swing with most any bird species in the wild. Try to hit your target temp and humidity as closely as possible and see what transpires. Before long...
Well after our power outage scare over the weekend everything seems to be ok. Still have wiggles, maybe even closer to dancing around when whistled to.
The most egg-citing thing today was one of our two egg also began to chirp and cheep while dancing around.
I think fun is around the corner!!
Well thats good to hear my mind was on the correct path with the temp issues. I'll remember the whistle back check as I get closer to those magical days....
