    Quick update: My chicken is not broody anymore! She spent two days in the cage but I let her out for a run in the backyard for a couple of hours with the other chooks each day. She is eating fine and is back to yelling at and terrorising my poor dog. Thanks for all of your help!

    I just had a look in the nesting box and there was a golf ball in there. That could have possible been causing the redness if she's been nesting on it for a while.
