    Year 2

I started early last spring with 18 chicks and I’ve currently got 15 amazing free range layers. I lost 1 to a hawk, and two disappeared (I’m assuming fox, I’ve seen him around). Looking to add a few more to my flock this spring (6-8) but need some advice on introducing new girls to existing...

    First Broody

We got our first chicks early this spring and thus far we’ve had a great experience raising chickens. I noticed about 3-4 weeks ago that one of our leghorns had gone “broody”. Run Design

Working on the design of turning an old wooden shed (aprx. 15'x12') into a coop with a run somewhere around 15' X 30'. Two question regarding the run in particular. 1. I'll have to fence the top of the run due to predators, but is it necessary for the fence to be tall enough for me to walk...

    Beginner from Kentucky

Hello from Kentucky! My wife and I recently purchased a home and 20 acres in very rural KY. We've got a 7 acre yard area and want to bring in a few chickens to give our 3 kids some responsibilities and to produce a few eggs along the way. The plan is to turn an old 12x10 tool shed into a coop...
