No ...Mine came from MY PET CHICKEN company. Received 8 but the other 6 are all different. With the help of our friendly chicken bloggers, I have figured out that the other six are Ancona, Austra White (white egg), Gold Laced Wyandotte, Asa Brown (1st and best layer), Easter Egger (greenish...
I too, received 2 Fayoumies in my "chicken math" mixed group of day old female chicks on 3/10/20. Although the same age, both are skittish and seem to stick together. But one has a larger very red comb and the other still just has a small pinkish comb. Neither has laid an egg as yet. But the...
Had several suggestions as to her breed. BUT today, She laid her first egg and it was a small light green colored egg. So this helps me narrow her down. One suggestion was a Welsummer but their eggs are speckled brown.
My Grey lady does seem to match the feathers of your two gals. The attached picture is another angle when she was a baby. As I said, the Avatar picture is her face.
Thanks to all of you...The white one with a few black streak of feathers must be an Austra White as she does have slate grey legs. the one in the back with the golden neck feathers, I am hoping is an EasterEgger. The dark one on the far right I think is an golden laced Wyandotte as her feathers...
Thanks, for your help. I have Ancona on my list of possibilities when I compared the pictures that MPC have on their site. The white with the black streak on her back may be a Delaware or part Delaware. But she does have dark grey legs/feet. the grey one we thought might be a mottled cochin...
Hey, Wisher...How old do you have to be to come into this group...@81, I am hoping that I qualify. Live in VA but in my earlier life, I milked cows in Indiana, raised kids in OH, NY, NJ & VA...now just have a husband with his garden, 2 cats and 8 young lady chickens at 15 weeks old...waiting...
I think my avatar picture is a Mottled cochin....as she is now All over mottled Grey feathers. the pic shows just a little of her back on the left of the pic. hard to keep her away from my feet.
I am so late welcoming you to BYC..I also got my 8 on March 10th...but still trying to figure out what breed some of them are. Posted pictures earlier today but was excited to learn that 2 of the 8 were Egyptian Fayoumi originally from Cairo Egypt. The chick pictured in my profile is still a...
My 8 ladies were a mixed bunch and I was excited to see that 2 of the 8 were Egyptian Fayoumi that originated from Cairo Egypt. They look exactly like the picture when I put in that name. I also have a golden laced Wyandotte. but I am still guessing about the others. One looks like an...
We got our 1st coop, a small one on sale for $200 from Tractor Supply and it needed assembly. But you are correct. It probably will not last 2 years. It was quite flimsy but as we started, I did not want to put a bunch of money not knowing whether we would want to do the chicken thing long...
I started with 6 tiny little ladies Asa Browns last spring. Although spending many years on a dairy farm in Indiana in the 60's, we never had chickens. And when my husband and I built our new rancher here in VA, I decided that I would love to have a small flock. This past year has be fun and...
