    Newly hatched chick falling backwards

Hello I have a newly hatched chick that falls over. Mostly backwards. I taped its legs but it doesn’t really have the split leg issue. I’ve never had this. It basically sits on its butt. Any suggestions! See video Sorry. Can’t seem to upload a video. Just a photo. Don’t know why

Help me help this newly hatched chick

Thanks. I did exactly that and the chick is doing fine now. It was basically glued in it's own goop. Couldn't move. I left it in the incubator all night so it stayed nice and warm. This morning I took it out and it walks around now. The feathers still look a bit weird but I think it will be ok.

    Chicks under 2 broody hens?

Yes that’s what I’m going to try. They are good together. Very docile but with chicks they are obviously protective.

    Chicks under 2 broody hens?

I have 2 trusty broody hens that have raised chicks before. I am confident about giving them chicks but I have never give them chicks at the same time. Any of you have experience with this? Can they stay in the same area and raise their chicks or do they get territorial? Any feedback appreciated

It's probably a legal thing. They don't want to be accountable for problems.

    Brooding chicks outside in winter

Great to hear. That's what I have. The cozy coop plate. I really like that one. I emailed them and they said the ambient temp cannot be below 60 ish. But I do have heating mats to put under it covered with some construction sand as well. Nice pics.

    Brooding chicks outside in winter

I love the broody hen setting. I've done it a lot but my chicks are too old to be accepted by the hen. She now is broody so part of my next batch of chicks will go under her. She's an older hen but tested and trusted. She will get the job done.

    Brooding chicks outside in winter

Interesting. I use a brooder plate but it specifically states that the ambient temperature should not fall below 60F. Do you put any insulating material around it?

    Brooding chicks outside in winter

So looking at your pictures you don't bother with wrapping in towels and using cling wrap? I'm reading that in the original post about it and it's confusing how she did it. Maybe I am replying to the wrong person @debid

    Brooding chicks outside in winter

Thanks. I didn’t mean the heat below them. I know they need it above. But thanks for letting me know about the ambient temp not getting below 50. That’s good to know.

    Brooding chicks outside in winter

I have been reading up on older posts regarding brooding my chicks in my chicken coop. I have read on the mama heating plate. It's not super clear to me but I guess I will read more of the comments and see the pictures. Most of these posts are older but still relevant. I would like to know if...

Elector PSP from the Chicken Chick

I used to buy the small bottle elector PSP from the chicken chick in case I need it. I have a small flock so it’s all I need. I want to buy it again but It’s don’t see it on her website anymore. Does anyone else on here know of a place that sells it per one time use?

    Super skinny RIR

I’ve done all that. She’s simply declining. I’m working on helping her since spring. I’m pretty sure she hasn’t laid an egg for months. Ive given all the things you mentioned. Some other member suggested the milk and bread plus scrambled eggs. I give her that extra. She also gets her regular food.
