Hello,
This Afternoon, when i went out to grab the eggs, i noticed some burrows. when i followed the burrows i found a huge subterranean junction of burrows under the chickens water. can anyone identify the animal responsible for this and if it is dangerous to the chickens?
Our hens are getting close to laying age. I remember hearing about putting false eggs in the nest box. what are these for and are they necessary?
thanks!
Eggs can be hard-boiled without sterilization because the boiling water should kill all pathogens. SO they should be safe to put in as they are. but, if you reuse the same container, you might want to wash the eggs to prevent cross-contamination.
hello,
I have three wyandottes that are around 7-10 weeks of age. when is it safe to clip their feathers to prevent them from flying over the wall? (the fence is 6 feet tall)
Yeah, when i was young, we used to use small toads as fishing bait for bass. They were EXTREMELY effective! I eventually switched to using humane lures instead though:)
I caught a small frog( not toad ) in our house. i took the frog far outside to release it. as i was walking, the frog leapt out of the container and landed on the ground where my rooster promptly nailed it on the head, pretty much killing it. Almost instantly after this, one of my hens ate it...

(Just a suggestion-you should use pine shavings instead of newspaper for bedding)
Good luck!
