One day I will get more.....but I want to move out of state onto more land. So, for now I will keep a couple of the roosters with my other hens.

    My "chicken math" story!

I brought my first "flock" home back in early April. 3 Speckled Sussex, 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes, and 3 Golden Laced Wyandottes. One GL turned out to be a rooster, but he's a good roo, and all is going well. I'm getting 5 eggs every day from them. Then, I found Blue Laced Red...

    7 week BLR Wyandotte....cockerels?

Ok, I'm fairly convinced now (after all the helpful input from members here!) that I only have one cockerel...... This is another the same age, for comparison

    7 week BLR Wyandotte....cockerels?

Funny! I have a bossy SLW, but she is nowhere near as bossy as this one! In fact, a Speckled Sussex is actually the top hen of that flock. She's always the first to go to the coop at night, and the first to come out in the morning. Its so cool to see the "pecking order".

    7 week BLR Wyandotte....cockerels?

Oh, thats interesting! She sure acts like a roo! She's kind of a bossy thing! And she will stand right up to my Rottweiler! My Golden Lace cockerel was very easy to tell.....his comb and wattles are much different than the pullets. I think I knew by the time he was 8 weeks. Those 9 were...

    7 week BLR Wyandotte....cockerels?

I'm pretty convinced the splash is a cockerel, so I guess I am just wondering about the darker one. In the picture below, he is the one on the far right. He seems darker and less "blue" than the others.

    7 week BLR Wyandotte....cockerels?

I have two I believe are cockerels, but I wanted to get more informed opinions. The darker one in the top picture sure seems to have larger wattles than the other dark ones. And the splash is just kind of a jerk.....I realize that isnt a good reason to believe its a cockerel, but call it...

    Walter, the Flemish Giant!

Walter is very different from Harvey, the mini lop. He is ALWAYS exploring and checking things out. He'll come up to me. Harvey is very laid back and not as personable. I love them both, but its really interesting to see the differences in personalities.

    Do I have a rooster?

I have 3 Golden Laced Wyandottes, and one of them has a more red comb developing. Could this be a rooster? S/he is the one right in the middle in the picture.

    Harvey the mini lop!

OH GOOD! I was looking but couldnt find anything, and I wanna make sure I give the buns the best care I can! This is such a great resource for the chickens, and I was hoping I could find something for the buns!

    Harvey the mini lop!

Meet Harvey, my baby mini lop! I have wanted bunnies for a while, and finally started looking. I think he's absolutely adorable, and has settled in really well already. Now dont want to mow the dandelions because he LOVES the leaves. I have already planted some kale for him....gardening for...

    Chickens new to outdoor coop

I'm so happy to see this thread, and that I am not the only one! My teenagers have been in their coop almost a week, and I have to physically put them inside at night as well. I thought maybe I just spoiled them!
