So, lately two hens refuse to come when called from free roaming (always the same two). The other four come and enter the run when called, and receive corn as a treat. All of the chickens love corn. So my question is: how do I get the two delinquent hens to listen? I suppose it’s worth noting...
Anyone have success training their quail? I was hoping to train them to come, and become more comfortable with handling so I can catch illness/infection in early stages. Litter training would be nice. It would keep my basement tidy when I’m cleaning their cage.
Hi,
So I bought some female quail to keep with the friendly male I selected to keep from my initial dozen. Problem, the male who was previously sweet and loved being petted is now acting aggressively towards me when I am trying to clean the cage. He will bite and jump at my face. Is this...

There’s a poultry show tomorrow and I will finally be getting some hens, happily unrelated to my boys. I have 2 remaining roos. (Butchered the rest) What is the best way to introduce them? Will the boys be fine because they are finally getting girlfriends. Or do I have to watch for aggression?
Yes, males will be aggressive towards each other. I have a dozen males. Some of them now have little bald heads. In the Xl dog crate I use for a cage, I now have an upper level with 2 birds that get along together (but were being picked on in the group). I also had to remove 2 aggressive...
Mine are showing aggression now they are 5 - 6 weeks old. Unfortunately, all my chicks were male. I have had to separate two pairs of birds from the rest of the flock. Most of my boys have bald heads.
Hi,
I am planning to build a run for my quail. I would like some honest opinions about this chew-proof plastic hardware netting. Has anyone actually used it to build a coop/run? I was thinking that this would be a great option to bury under the floor of the run. Benefit, of course, is that...
