    They scared yo...

My runt is the bravest too! They were very careful at 4 weeks and I had to place them outside one by one. Now... they fight to be the first out the coop door!

    West Texas Ducks in Need!

Oh yes, there are small farms all around the outskirts of town, and others who keep backyard poultry and waterfowl in town. I figured the more exposure the better to try and let interested animal lovers know. I'm working on posting...in between work schtuff....

    West Texas Ducks in Need!

I agree, it's going to be an ongoing issue. However, with us being in the desert, the natural resources needed for them to survive are pretty limited. It seems the numbers are overwhelming right now, so it has been getting more attention locally.

    West Texas Ducks in Need!

This is El Paso, not Houston. We do have wild Mallard (?) and Canadian geese that migrate in and out of the area. Those guys are doing fine for now. It's the dumped pet ducks that are starving. Apparently it's a yearly issue around this time.

    West Texas Ducks in Need!

The Sherriff's department keeps saying it's a wildlife issue so they won't coordinate a rescue. :/

Their first night outside on their own

The bigger brown/red ones on the left look JUST like 3 of mine right now. Do you know what breed they are?

    Windy Weather and moving outside...

My chicks are ~6 weeks now! We have feathers galore, only the tiniest chick/pullet still has a fuzzy head. Anyways, I opted to move them from the steel tub in the bathroom to a large kennel in the garage to make more space for them and they have just been happy as can be. They have cardboard...

    West Texas Ducks in Need!

There were SO many Texas threads, I couldn't decide which one to start with! I figured I'd start here and cross-post as I have time. I hate that this is my hometown allowing it :(

I've STOPPED Roosters Crowing Is there enough interest for me to patent & supply?

You might pair this with a poll about general demographics since that's going to impact your market. The already mentioned "rural vs urban" is a good one!

I've STOPPED Roosters Crowing Is there enough interest for me to patent & supply?

Agreed. Ideas of what is humane can vary from one person to the next.

    West Texas Ducks in Need!

Hello duck lovers in or near EL PASO, TEXAS! I know it's a long shot but in case anyone can help or wants to adopt! Even if it's only a few that get homes, they could have a better chance at life. Right now there are ~30 domestic duck starving in the parking lot of ASCARATE PARK and ASCARATE...

Comment by 'EPChick' in article 'Using Sand In Your Chicken Coop'

I just so happen to live in the desert... right smack in the middle of old dried up riverbeds. Free coop litter forever and our climate should keep it plenty dry. Great article!

    New here...Guess my chick's breed/sex!

I'd actually be happy if they're mixed RIR because we get some serious heat around here and I heard from a few local chicken farmers that they hold up better with our temps than other breeds.

    New here...Guess my chick's breed/sex!

The three brown ones do have fluffy cheeks, but I don't see it in the chick with the white head and neck (Dove). Dove is also noticeably larger and less sociable than the other three, and the little comb is coming in reddish orange instead of corn yellow like the others...so something *is*...
