    Hen not moving

You're totally right! My 2 yr rooster is the boss, he's calm, over protective and really sweet to hens, the younger one is so too, they always split the number of hens in half and take them with them and go different sides to explore lol. but his 2 other brothers are pretty much rude, way too...

    Hen not moving

She's a lot better now! I'm so glad it wasn't anything serious, when the spring kicks in I will definitely deworm them. Thanks a lot! One more question, do you happen to know if letting them free range would pose any threat if they come in contact with the soil where my previous chickens' run...

    Hen not moving

She's around 8 months old, she couldn't move at all, after 2 days she got back on her feet but she's still moving in a weird way, like she charges and flaps with her wings in a happy motion but moves weird, she's still a bit unstable on her feet but she's moving a lot better now. I've put her...

    Hen not moving

Hello Yesterday I saw her sitting in the coop, thought she was going to lay an egg so I let her be. This morning I noticed she was in the same position but outside the coop, I tried making her move but she didn't want to, I lifted her up and landed her on her feet but she simply does not want to...

    Pinless peepers, help!

I don't think it would help. They ravaged their vents and now they changed to their neck and back... I don't think it would help... They plucked all of their vent feathers now they changed to their neck and back area... I guess I will just let them keep those peepers on cause I'm really sick of...

    Pinless peepers, help!

7 hens + 2 pickers, they don't pick on the dominant hen, not even a single feather is missing off her, these 2 just pluck and eat feathers off of other hens their age. I think they do it out of boredom, I feed them protein 17%, I changed it to 22% it didn't help, I added some things to entertain...

    Pinless peepers, help!

Hi! I've been having feather eating problem for the past 2 months, I have tried everything but 2 of my hens just don't want to stop the bad habit. I got some pinless peepers (never used those before), so I saw few vids. and I put it on a hen, she was squeeking like she was in pain. Is that...

Thank you Dawg! Do I have to collect and remove droppings couple of times a day or it doesn't make a big change either way?

    Worms in dropping *pics

My vet mentioned some medicine that starts with P. can't remember the name... Is it hard to get rid off of them? Once they finish their course of medicine I suppose these stay in the soil so do they reinfect my hens right after they finish the course or?

    Worms in dropping *pics

Greetings! I was cleaning the coop yesterday and noticed a stringy appearance in droppings, looks like a worm. Today I let my hens out (10 months old) to free range and I saw one pooping and I was temped to check it out, and there they were. I'm not sure is this the same type of parasite in...

    To free range or not?

I wasn't shaming anyone. My post was all about my birds and not other folks' nor birds in general... I just wanted to know what's the best thing to do in my situation therefore MY BIRDS, you've taken it way too personal. There's no need to make a hullabaloo for nothing.

    To free range or not?

Thanks! I'm surely letting them out tomorrow, they will be scared at first but I hope they will get used to it as I'll be letting them out more often. One thing's for sure, can't keep them enclosed forever.

    To free range or not?

Thank you for your reply! I just googled out Fowl Pox, and I don't think it's common in my region but sure thing is to let them free range, I was in dilemma cause I lack some knowledge but it just hit my brain that it would be cruel to be keeping them forever.

It sounds wonderful where you live! Where are you located if I may ask? I'd like to google it and see!

    To free range or not?

I see, I guess I can't keep them 'locked' forever, that would be absurd. It's tragic to be living in an area where there are predators, I'm so lucky that I don't have many where I live. Thank you for the help!

    To free range or not?

Thanks a lot for your reply! That's what I used to do with my old flock 1-2h of free ranging before dusk and they would all go to bed on their own. The only predator here where I live is a hawk, or a wandering dog, either way I've never left my previous flock on their own, I always find work to...

    To free range or not?

Hello chicken lovers! So here's my dilemma, free range or not? I have 10 chickens, 9 months old. I have never let them free range, not even when they were babies, they did have grass and everything in their run before they ravaged it all to the ground tho, the run is 8m with 3.5m. My concern...
