    It's vent is clear so it must be umbilical? Chick is also not drying out and feels sticky. If I wash it will to give infection to umbilical? Should I feed it? It's still in incubator. It's in good enough form but it looks a state! Have attached pics. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated...

    Thanks so much folks. I think you are right, I think its unabsorbed yolk. The rest have hatched and are in brooder now so it can be left alone to dry up. I'll try some ointment on it too. I'll give it a few hours and post another pic. :)

    Hi there, My chick hatched this morning and has a small protusion on it's bum with something yellow in the middle. Will it dry up on its own or do I need to do something? Thanks Jen
