I thought my hen was egg bound as she is constantly pushing and waddling, and I did all the treatments that I could find for this. She has yet to lay an egg and it has been weeks, so I am assuming it is not that as she is still alive.
Her symptoms are: she has a swollen belly, I think I feel a...
Yes. They completely healed since they were chicks (when I gave them a bigger space) and had beautiful feathers until a few months ago (as in post above)
I posted a picture above. I did not spray down the coop with anything. I cleaned it out, spread some of the powder and DE and added new bedding. No, everyone on here thought mites after my last post, I have never seen them.
I dont see mites in the coop or on the chickens, but to be honest I’m not really sure what I am looking for other than tiny bugs. I rubbed the chicken powder that I got at the feed store onto the chickens and cleaned the coop.
Pretty new to chickens. I posted before a few months ago and I tried treating for mites. It is not getting any better. In fact, it is getting worse. Some of my chickens have balding spots (not bald) on their backs. One of my RI Reds in particular looks very bad. Red bald and irritated around...
Extra layer pellets from Blue Seal. 9 hens. Plenty of room for them, We built it all with room for 15 or so. I forget exact dimensions right now but can check in the morning if you think that info will help. Started about a month ago.
The feathers on some of my chickens backs are fluffy. Have been like that for a month or so. I thought it was mites after doing some research but it doesn’t seem to be getting better with treatment. Anyone know what is going on!?
This is the only one of my chicks that was not sexed. Any idea what it is? She is bigger than the others, but we are not sure on her age. My other checks are almost 6 weeks old, I think she may be a little bit older. She feathered first and is the biggest. Her (hopefully) comb is also starting...
We are new to chickens, and getting the coop ready for our chicks! There is a six-foot chain-link fence around the coop, and hardware cloth about 4 feet up from the ground all the way around (not pictured). Would you all put some sort of netting over the top as well? We have a lot of hawks. If...
Thank you for your response! We want to move them out to the coop, but it is still too cold. Any recommendation on when we can move them out? It is about 50° out consistently during the day, obviously colder at night
Thank you! The lady at the feed store where I got them said to put them in a large Rubbermaid bin, so that’s what I did! Since they have been getting bigger, I have been wondering if it is too crowded! I just doubled their space, so I hope they are better now!
