Yes, it happens when the birds don't get enough light. They require 12 to 14 hours on light to keep them laying. Caution raising quail is addictive...I started with 30 birds, we now have over 1,000 hens at Cresthill farms! You have been warned!
We use the spent grounds in the manure pans. When is is time to change them out, we drop them in the black soldier fly larva pod . They are in turn fed to the chickens and quail.
