I wasn’t able to get a picture as I held her whilst my mum did the cleaning and pushing back in but if it’s the same tomorrow I’ll post a picture then

Female runner duck has a vent prolapse, need some advice please!

We cleaned the area, not too much is hanging out and pushed it back in with coconut oil and then some icing or powdered sugar. It stays in for a bit then starts to come back out so we’ve put her in a dark box and will do the same tomorrow. If that fails we will go to a vet but it feels...

Female runner duck has a vent prolapse, need some advice please!

She’s been swimming on the outdoor pond which is clean and filtered, we haven’t done anything yet but will now try to push it back in with coconut oil and then put her in a dark box. Should I also use sugar? Thank you for your help!

Female runner duck has a vent prolapse, need some advice please!

I’ve just noticed my female Indian runner duck has a vent prolapse, it’s not all hanging out there’s just a small amount of pink flesh poking out. What should I do for her? I’ve heard so many horror stories about this I just want her to be ok!

Female duck off colour - problem with laying?

This is the ‘egg’, it seems to only have half a soft shell and she doesn’t seem to be immediately back to normal.

Female duck off colour - problem with laying?

Funny you should say that as just this second she has laid a soft shell egg! It’s a yolk surrounded by a very soft and half formed shell! Is this something to worry about, we feed them a layers foodstuff and we supplement them with a type of ‘treat mix’ we sprinkle in every day which contains...

Female duck off colour - problem with laying?

Every day for the last week we’ve had 1 or 2 eggs from my 4 females. They are different in shape and colour and we have 2 runners and 2 khaki Campbells so I’m assuming one or both of each variety are laying alternately. Today I noticed one of my khakis is off colour, she stays at the back of the...

    Prolapsed penis?

Another interesting development in the saga is that Abigail, one of our khaki Campbell girls, has started ‘mating’ with a couple of the other girls! Nobody seems to be getting hurt and I’ve deduced that she’s just trying to assert her dominance over the others? She does seem to be Lucky’s...

    Prolapsed penis?

He’s very young and this is his first season mating, we’ve been told that his sex organs were probably damaged in some was but for sure over “excited-ness” definitely didn’t help!

    Prolapsed penis?

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions and reassurance, we’re just going to keep a close eye on him and if he begins to act different or show signs of infection we’ll take him straight to a vet! We think we’ve found the cause though; this boy and another (that sadly didn’t make it) were abandoned...

    Prolapsed penis?

Hiya, this morning we picked up some poultry cider vinegar and gave him a cold bath with some of this mixed in. Then we put coconut oil on the area and pushed it back in. It stayed in for a few minutes then right came back out with the next poo. At this point he seemed quite stressed and the...
