I thought bantams were smaller, she probably 4lbs or so. Not much smaller than my standard chickens. Is it possible she's a modern game? That's what I normally think but I think her legs are the wrong color.
I've got everybody else in the flock figured out except Mama P. Every time I think I've got it, something doesn't match up. Especially since she went broody and co-hatched chicks this summer. Help!
So, my broody hen hatched one chick and bailed. Thankfully I have another broody that doesn't have a clutch so I handed off the eggs but now I have a cold chick under a heating pad. Never dealt with new babies before, only the very active 2/3 day olds shipped to me. I've got the heating pad on...
Hello,
I'm looking to add 3 goslings to my chicken flock. Has anyone used a heat plate successfully with geese? I've read their heat requirements are slightly different than chicks but am wondering size wise, if I can be successful.
I don't believe she has begun to lay yet. From what I could see there wasn't any egg material but I'll get her bathed and take a closer look. No reddened area that I could see initially either. I'll try to post back after I get her cleaned up.
I watched her eat well today but she was definitely not as perky as normal. I believe today is day 3 like that but I will admit I don't always get home in time to do a thorough check on all the girls before dark so not completely positive.
No bakery smell there. This was the first day she let me get anywhere near her but I noticed what I thought was goopy stuff day before yesterday and couldn't find her yesterday
Nope! But the Cochin has three weeks on the Delaware so he's got time :) This is my first year with chickens so I guess I'm not really sure what normal timelines are either though.
Here are my packing peanuts from my 4/24 hatch date. Nobody has attempted to crow. I feel like they are all cockerels but would like verification before I send them on to a friend so they can attend freezer camp :/ I think I got all 5 in there.
