This is the most comprehensive introduction to peafowl I have seen to-date. I read this article a few weeks ago, but I am going over it again, this time with two babies that I bought from the author today. She practices every thing she has here. I love my new babies!
I'm rehabbing a peahen (age unknown) and wanted to get your opinion on feed. I have been feeding her chick starter & layer pellets mixed, & berries, greens, cat food, and catching her bugs. I wanted to know your opinion on buying the expensive game fowl food vs.what I am doing. I am trying to do...
These chickens are amazing. They started crowing at 8 days (there are two roosters). By two weeks, I had to move them to a small cage inside the coop because they could fly higher than my four foot brooder. I think the white one is a BCM & Silkie mix. The others are BCM.
I know that it is supposed to take a while, but I just hatched some Black Copper Marans that started crowing at one week and flying out of their 4 feet tall brooder at two weeks. Maybe I have "super-breed chickens" and could sell their eggs at specialty prices
I don't know if anyone will read this, so I'll keep it short...
I recently moved back to Michigan where we purchased a house with a few acres. After settling in and creating aviaries for my rabbits, I incubated my first chickens, and now I am hooked.
I'm fascinated by feather development...
I am in Michigan, and I was wondering if you ever sell chicks. Also, could I pick up the eggs rather than have them shipped? I read that shipping reduces the chance of hatching. I've been searching for someone locally (or at least in-state) for a long time!
