Last time I posted was in 2018...all 5 girls from my original flock are gone now. We buy a few new chicks every other year. 2022 was an unlucky year in Chicklandia, we lost 6 that year (2 to hawks, 3 to illness/cancer, 1 was unexplained). My current flock of 7 is a mix of ages and breeds, I'm...
Wyatt Chearp is back. My friend was so positive that it is a female that she brought it back to me because she knows we got kind of unlucky with our straight runs (4 probable males out of 7). I'm not going to try to rehome Wyatt again until he crows. Here is a pic of him (her?) from this morning
Thanks RhodeRunner, we rehomed the wyandotte last week with a friend who has 12 hens about the same age. He wasn't accepted into the flock so she has him separated from the others and will try to integrate him slowly. He's friendly to her and her dog and I'm really hoping it works out for him :fl

Thanks...that's what I thought. I got an assortment of 7 straight run chicks (3 bantam cochins, a silkie, 2 lavender ameraucanas and 1 blue laced red wyandotte)...4 of them are male :hit
I have 3 six-week old bantam cochins. I'm thinking at this point that the barred cochin is male, the white cochin is female, but I'm not sure about the partridge cochin. Any thoughts?
#1 - Barred cochin, #2 - white cochin, #3 partridge cochin
I'm a chicken newbie. A while back, my husband and I ordered 6 chicks from a popular online website (which I will not name), and all six did not survive the journey. I was devastated to say the least...I went out that day and bought 4 straight-run bantam cochin chicks from Wilco, and three...
