    Three Hens in Toledo, OH

I’m not sure which chicken that pertains to. I’m not 100% knowledgeable on the lingo. The Barred Rock lays light/medium brown eggs, the golden lays cream colored eggs and the yellow hen lays white.

    Three Hens in Toledo, OH

Hello! I have three hens that will need a new home in the near future. I’m going to be moving into a apartment & can’t take them with me. They are all 1-2 years old, laying on a daily and are all friendly. I don’t handle them often so they are not use to being held. The little hens are easy to...

Re-homing four chickens in Toledo, Ohio

Hello, I’ve come into some issues with each one of my chickens so far. Eye infections, prolapsed vent which led to one passing away, poopy butts, pecking etc. I like having the chickens but some situations are stressful and make me wonder if I still really want to do this.

Re-homing four chickens in Toledo, Ohio

Hello, I have four hens that I’ve considered giving away. I’m still new at chicken care taking but it hasn’t been the experience I thought it would be. I care about the chickens and I want them to go to a good home. I live in Ohio and the hens have been solely outdoors (I don’t bring them in...

    Sunlight while chicken is healing

Thanks for the response. So far so good with not laying any eggs. I let her out into a portable pen for a couple hours and she still isn’t laying. In her condition right now, laying an egg wouldn’t be the best idea. Cheers-Leah

    Sunlight while chicken is healing

Hello everyone, So I posted a previous thread about one of my chickens with a prolapsed vent. Since I’m new at this I didn’t think what I was doing for her was working so I took her to get looked at by a vet. The vet gave me some medication for her since she has a lot of inflammation and some...

    Prolapsed vent

Thank you for the information. I’m going to check on her when I get home from work and hopefully she’s looking okay. I’m going to more than likely give her another bath. I’m just hoping she didn’t lay an egg and the issue happened again. She was up and moving around this morning but there was a...

    Prolapsed vent

Hello, So yesterday one of my little chickens was hiding in the coop when I got home and let the girls out. When I went in to check on her I noticed some blood on the ramp going into the coop. When I looked in and saw her I noticed her vent area was completely protruding out. She had blood and...
