So, every FAQ states on what to do when hatching, but is there a FAQ on what BAD things to look out for? I don't want to redecorate an area with an overripe pre-omlet.

I know how everyone here is an animal lover, I used to have a dog too, but if I had this situation, I would trap the dog and then go to a secluded area and dump the offending beast. I know everyone says not to; but you are dealing with the irresponsibility of the owner and you don't want to kill...
I was also thinking that the best way to start up a flock was to go to the local Houston SPCA. Their website has some hens listed, but I have yet to visit the center. Does anyone have a checklist on what to look for when choosing adult hens? I'm sure the SPCA would check for mites and other...

I was wondering about this issue as well. I'd like to get some hens and then pimp them out with a rooster to get some chicks. Just wondering if it's easier to get eggs or calling up a chicken stud? (is that possible?)
