Is there a veterinarian handy that can put the poo under a scope and check for parasitic eggs? My daughter is a vet assistant and they really don't train them on chickens... but they can check for eggs. Just a thought. Best of luck.
Is it bumblefoot? That needs taken care of asap. Look on the bottom for swelling... There's info on the internet about bumblefoot. I never heard of it until one of my babies lost a foot to it.
Check her crop. Just below the breast bone and to the right. If it is hard... it's crop bound. It could be sour crop too. Is her breath bad? I mean.. do you notice a foul odor around her beak? Fix it fast. My rooster died from being crop bound... I didn't know what it was until it was too...
Thanks for your posts... but I'm pretty sure it is his crop. Started reading on it and he all the signs. Held him upside down and massaged the crop and he vomited fluid and sunflower seeds. He has been healing from the foot very well... he had severe frostbite in February and the foot died so...
My rooster lost his foot a few weeks ago. He was doing well. Had been on Albon. Got diarrhea and I took him off of it. Has had very watery loose droppings for 2 1/2 days now. Does not move. Makes absolutely no noise. No cock-a-doodle-doo or clucks or a peep. I am at my wits end. I am...
My suggestion is the vet's office. They can sedate him... they have precision tools.. they maybe could cut it off without losing his tongue in the process.
My little guy (rooster, banty) just lost his foot today. A Bumblefoot issue so the vet told me. Are there any suggestions as to helping him get by and living with just one foot? It has to heal first, I know, but I'm wondering if he'll make it up to the roost or even out of the coop with one foot.
Be concerned. Could it be bumblefoot? My little banty rooster just lost his foot today due to that ailment. I had no idea. Be careful they do not lose their toes.
Have you ever heard of chicken Bumblefoot? I cannot recall what that is exactly but it has to do with sores on the bottom of their feet. I would definitely keep her away from the big hens. I have a banty rooster and he had a difficult time living with the big guys. He's full grown now, and...
Well... I took him to the veterinarians today. His foot just fell off. It was apparently Bumblefoot. I do not know now what to do with my poor little guy. One foot. My chickens run free. He isn't going to be running any time soon. I hope he manages on one foot....
My banty rooster...
