Hey all! Last night my border collie was not paying attention and ran over my Khaki Campbell, Amelia. she hurt her leg and I’m not sure where in the leg is hurt. She is standing on her other leg and is using her wing to help her move when she does. I have her separated for the flock and blocked...
Shes home! She had 3 pins put in and a rod. I have a soft playpen coming for her, but her carrier in the cage seems to be working well to keep her still. I haven't moved her from her carrier. I just changed the pee pad underneath her and made sure she was clean. She can move around a little bit...
Update!
Emmy had surgery today and had to have 3 pins put in. The break was at a very sharp angle and the surgery took a little longer than expected. However, she pulled through and if all goes well this evening the vet is very hopeful for nearly full recovery!
Sadly my duck Emmy (she's 3) took a tumble and broke her left leg/femer. The vet said I might be able to find a local vet to put a pin in her leg or the other option is amputation. I know birds have a hard time going under for surgery. I'm hoping her leg can be fixed, but is it too risky? Should...
Awesome! I used Terramycin and it worked like a charm. I put apple cider vinegar in her water to help out before I could get to the store. That and flushing the eye and Terramycin definitely seemed to work. What a relief!
my drake was rough with one of my girls and she seems to have a mild case of foamy eye. It just popped up today and she has no other symptoms besides this. I know exactly the moment he was rough with her too. I separate him 99.9% of the time and when he was having supervised social time i turned...
hey all! I had a duck who had some egg issues so I gave her some calcium gluconate. Worked like a charm! However now I have this big bottle of calcium. It says it needs to be used within 24 hours, however its sealed, and I never put anything into the bottle. I poured what I needed out, filled my...
Thanks so much everyone! She was able to pass her egg the next day. Before bed she ate a good amount of food with extra calcium and drink nutridrench water. It seemed to help! I got the calcium gluconate for TSC and I'm very happy to have it on hand, as I have 4 laying girls, 2 of which have had...
My almost 2 year old khaki Campbell, Amelia, is having problems with an egg. Looks like she is pushing with now luck. She is eating, drinking, foraging, and pooping. I soaked her in a warm epsom salt bath for 30 min and then let her rest. She does seem tired and hurting. She did lay a good egg...
Not limp, quiet opposite. Poor boy had to go in time out for harassing the ladies too much 🤣.. I'll keep an eye on it and apply some ointment just to be safe.
Hey all!
My drake Campbell has what look like callouses on this feet. I've posted the photo below. Should I be soaking him in Epsom salt? Are these even anything to worry about or just normal wear and tear? I dont want to put him through a unnecessary treatment.
Thank you!
Thanks all! All girls laid healthy eggs this morning once again. I was never able to figure out which girl it was, and everyone seems to be doing great. They range from 8 months to a year and theyve been laying fofor about 3 or 4months. Hoping it's just a one off, because I seriously cannot tell...
So I've attached a few photos of what appears to egg white and yolk. No shells. I have 3 girls that could be the culprits but I cant figure put which on because they are all acting 100% normal. They all laid eggs this morning with very hard shells. They have plenty of calcium in their diet, no...
There is a little scab. We just finished a bumblefoot on one of our girls. She healed quickly thankfully, I'm hoping the same with Campbell. He's had bumblefoot before and it took 7 weeks to heal.
Hey all! Our drake Campbell seems to have an infected dew claw. Just notice it today and I plan on treating it like bumblefoot. What is the best way to wrap it? I have booties for bumblefoot on the bottom of feet, but the dew claw is new territory. Any advice on treatment and wrapping?
